PIRATED COPIES - ZINDABAD

Late Benazir Bhutto’s new book, “Reconciliation: Islam, Democracy and the West”, is the current best seller in the country, Pirated copies of this book, selling like hot cakes, people are more interested in pirated copy than the original one, because of its low price.

Original and Pirated copies both are launched by the same publishing house [Harper Collins publishing House], original copy of the 328 page book is of rupees 1300, but the pirated copy of same 328 page book [launched last week] is of rupees 395 only.

Many students including me wanted to buy this book, but its price was not an affordable one for me and for many other students like me, who are already spending their 50 % pocket money on course books of our professional college and university, which too are very expensive.

To readers like me, it doesn’t matter that we read the book’s original print or pirated version, we wanted the content present inside book, not the quality of papers or its hard original binding.

According to the copyright law, publishing pirated versions without the permission of Author and publisher is crime, we agree to it, and we don’t want anybody to do this. What we want is that the author and publisher should themselves release the pirated version soon after the original print has done some business in the market, as students like me should also become able to buy and read the books.

PRESIDENT MUSHARAF: THE RACIST PRESIDENT

President is the head of the state, he should talk to the people of Pakistan in a manner with which he talks to his son, but our President, Mr. Musharraf is a different kind of head, he uses arms to maintain peace in the country, he himself labels people as terrorists and kills them, in his view, what he thinks for Pakistan is good, and what Pakistan thinks for itself is not good. His decisions and his policies have proved that Sindhi, Punjabi, Pakhtoon, Balochi, Muhajir, all are not EQUAL, he has proved that Sindh, Balochistan, Sarhad and Punjab are not EQUAL. After reading a Sindhi magazine (Sindh Week), a Sindhi newspaper (Daily Ibrat, Hyderabad) and an English newspaper (The Frontier-post), I have collected some information which proves that President Musharraf is a Racist President.
Sindh & Sindhis have suffered a lot during 08-year long tenure of 'Racist President', President Musharraf in Pakistan. President Musharraf has taken MANY steps reportedly meant against sindh and to 'defame' Sindhis during his long 8 year rule in Pakistan, I am mentioning few here:
A - Sindhis were denied of their basic right to rule in their own province.
B - An ethnic minority (MQM) was imposed on Sindh to rule over majority people of Sindh (Sindhis). These terrorists of an ethnic group killed about 50 people in Karachi on May 12, 2007.
C - Mega projects have been initiated in Karachi by spending billions of rupees where as Interior Sindh was miserably neglected.
D - He appointed a puppet Sindh chief minister (Dr. Arbab Rahim) who had no wisdom, dignity, etiquettes and manners. The “Yes Man” of Islamabad rulers, who has only one ability i.e. to use abusive language against opponents.
E - In appointments of higher posts, Sindhis were miserably neglected during his long 08-year tenure. However, he tried to get cheap publicity by exploiting the only appointment of a Sindhi woman as Governor of State Bank of Pakistan (Ms Shamshad Akhter).
F - General Musharraf repeatedly tried to prove that only he was well-wisher of Sindh and not 04 crores Sindhis themselves particularly on the subject of construction of controversial Kalabagh dam (KBD) in Punjab.
G - General (R) Musharraf insulted Sindhis from time to time. Sometimes he claimed that Sindhis were not capable to become I. G Police and federal Secretary and sometime he called them 'Lazy' (as reported by Sindhi daily Ibrat, Hyderabad).

These were only 7 steps out of MANY, taken by President Musharraf against Sindh and against Sons of Soil (Sindhi’s). President Musharraf repeatedly claimed "He was Sindhi" (self-claimed) but his policies proved against national interests of Sindh. According to the World Sindhi Congress (WSC) in its 14th Annual Convention (Aug 2004) held in London (UK), they condemned the policies of General (now Retired) Musharraf and termed his policies based on 'racial discrimination' against indigenous people i.e. Sindhis.
You might be thinking that the thoughts expressed above are the thoughts of only Sindhi people, but that’s not true, the other Pakistani people living in Foreign countries who were not in Pakistan during President Musharraf’s Rule, who have watched the whole time of Musharraf on TV or read on Newspapers only, these pakistani’s also think that President Musharraf is a Racist President, let me add a letter which was published in an English newspaper “The Frontier-Post” by Sultan Salahuddin from Virginia USA, He Writes:

"President is symbol of the unity of state. If you have a racist president then it is one of the major alarming signs that the country is headed towards turmoil and breakup. President Musharraf has not only used abusing words for Sindhi’s but also he has used similar words for Baloch people.Given the grave situation of the Shahadat of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto (the last hope of the integrity of Pakistan) president Musharraf should have been very careful and sympathetic when talking about Sindh/Sindhies, as they are the most affected people from the sad demise and the after effects of the plunder by outlaws. Instead Musharraf said that some ethnic groups have been targeted in Sindh, which is false and absurd. Rather he should have said that it was failure of the government in protecting Mohtarma and the peoples properties afterwards and have resigned immediately. But how can you expect such a thing from a dictator, who overthrew the respectable judges of the highest court and imposed state of emergency just to keep himself at the helm of the affairs. How can such president act rationally. This president and presidency is mockery of the federation and sign of the disintegration of Pakistan. I wonder how Punjab and especially the military is allowing such a president to stay in office and provoke ethnic sentiments? It is duty of the Punjabi people and military to check Musharraf if they want Pakistan still united. Only talking about Pakistan won't work."

President Musharaf thinks that he is the only well-wisher of Pakistan and 16 crore population thinks against the benefits of Pakistan. President Musharraf before these Elections, once said, that if the PPPP or PML-N won, or both won the majority seats, I will resign, PPPP and PML-N has won, but we have not yet heard any news that Musharraf is thinking to resign. I can’t understand that why this huge population is sitting quite at home, if only half of the population comes out on the roads and protests for only 3 days continuously, then Musharraf will surely have to leave the President Ship.

FORGET PAST – FOCUS ON FUTURE

The political leader should not be (only) judged or voted on the basis of his performance, one should also see that whether this leader can represent our emotions and our thoughts. Peoples in Pakistan mostly say that we will vote that person who had done something for us, who has made roads, fly overs, who has maintained the cleanliness in our city, who has started many big projects as like five star hotels, big shopping malls, amusement parks, etc etc, now let me remind you about Mr. Gandhi and Mr. Jinnah, they both were the big leaders, one represented the fight for Independence of Hindustan (indirectly Hindus) and the other one represented the fight for Independence of Muslims, they both were followed by a sea of people …………. on what basis ? on performance ? huhn they never made roads – flyovers, they never worked on projects for shopping mall, five star hotels, they had no previous performance, but were still followed by many people, just because they were representing their people’s thoughts to others, they were sharing emotions with there followers.

Just like that we should vote a party who represents us, our thoughts, our emotions, our decisions, our will, not to that who has done hard work to maintain cleanliness in city and to decorate the city, this sort of work is not the duty of an elected party or government, this is our duty, it’s the duty of people who live in Pakistan. On the basis of this I want to say that we should give another chance to PPPP, and give them full support.

Results of election 2008 shows that PPPP will make the government along with PML-N, the people who have voted them they will surely support them, but the people who didn’t voted them should also support them, they should forget the past, they should stop thinking about what they have done before, let us give them another chance, might they prove themselves better then our last government (PML-Q), who has lost this time. We should now focus on the FUTURE of Pakistan and Insha Allah, they (new democratic govt.) will complete their time period.
